Dwayne Haskins had a chance to get some extended reps in Thursday’s preseason action, and he is making the most of his playing time.

Playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Haskins made his preseason debut last week during the Hall of Fame game. Both teams struggled to score points with Haskins completing 8 of 13 passes for just 54 yards.

During Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Haskins received a longer stretch of playing time. Mason Rudolph started that contest for the Steelers but was unable to produce points with Pittsburgh punting on three straight possessions to open the game.

Haskins did go 3-and-out on his first drive under center, but he found his groove after that. He led the team on 3 touchdown drives and another for a field, including this 22-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter:

That game is still winding down in the fourth quarter but it looks like Haskins’ evening may be over with. If he is done, Haskins will finish the game 16-for-22 in the air with 161 yards and a touchdown without turning the ball over. Haskins was also the QB on the field for 24 points for Pittsburgh.

Will Haskins be able to build off this performance? Right now, he is solidifying his spot in the battle to be Ben Roethlisberger’s backup in Pittsburgh.
