Eddie George is expected to interview for the Chicago Bears’ head coaching job on Sunday, according to a report.

That news was first shared by NFL insider Jay Glazer late Saturday night. George recently wrapped up his 4th season as Tennessee State’s head coach at the FCS level.

According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN, George will meet in person with the Bears brass on Sunday. He’s just the 3rd candidate to conduct an in-person interview so far during Chicago’s coaching search, per Cronin.

George does not have any coaching experience beyond his 4 seasons as Tennessee State’s head coach. He’s coming off of his best season with the Tigers — a 9-4 campaign that included an appearance in the FCS playoffs.

Of course, George had an extremely decorated playing career. In college, he starred at Ohio State and won the 1995 Heisman Trophy with over 1,800 rushing yards. George is 4th all-time in Ohio State history with 3,768 rushing yards.

George then went on to have a 9-year NFL career with Houston, Tennessee and Dallas. He spent 7 of those seasons with the Titans and reached 4 Pro Bowls during his career. He rushed for over 10,000 yards in his NFL career.

There is no known timetable for the Bears to make a decision on their next head coach.
