After a lackluster showing in the loss vs. Indiana, Ohio State’s offense woke up in a big way against Northwestern. That included a crazy outing for star EJ Liddell.

To open the game, Liddell could not miss. He poured in 17 of Ohio State’s first 19 points while going a perfect 6-for-6 (5-for-5 from 3-point range) to open the game. That set the tone for what would be a 95-point showing for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State needed every bit of that offense as Northwestern would not go quietly. The Wildcats answered time and time again before the Buckeyes finally secured the 95-87 win.

Along the way, Liddell set a new career-high for points. He hit 30 points for the first time in his career after setting his previous high at 29 points against Niagra.

Liddell finished the win with 34 points on 12-for-20 shooting and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. He rounded out that performance with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 blocks.

After the struggles of Liddell’s last 2 games, it was quite the breakout for Liddell vs. the Wildcats. Hopefully he’s able to keep that momentum rolling into Thursday’s road trip vs. Wisconsin.
