Witness: Ezekiel Elliott's girlfriend asked me to lie to police
Ezekiel Elliott was confident that he would be found innocent of all domestic violence charges against him.
That became a reality on Tuesday when the Columbus prosecutor’s office announced that it wouldn’t be pursuing criminal charges against the former Ohio State tailback, citing “conflicting and inconsistent information across all incidents resulting in concern regarding the sufficiency of the evidence to support the filing of criminal charges.”
Why? It turns out that they had some pretty convincing evidence from a witness.
Elliott’s ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, accused the Cowboys rookie of committing domestic violence five different times. But according to Thompson’s friend, Ayrin Mason, she was advised to lie to police about Elliott’s role in the incident on July 22.
Mason delivered this sworn statement to police defending Elliott’s innocence, via Deadspin:
So according to Mason, Elliott having another woman in the front seat of his car was what sparked the incident. But there’s more to suggest that Mason was the one telling the truth.
Here’s what is allegedly a conversation between Thompson (left) and Mason (right):
Those are just texts without names attached, but if the prosecutor’s office dropped the case, they obviously had a reason.
Perhaps Mason’s sworn statement pushed it over the top.
