The nation’s most consistent tailback has certainly proved himself worthy of a trip to New York.

Hitting the 100-yard mark in 15 straight games certainly helps that.

Ezekiel Elliott is now tied for second in the Bovada Heisman Trophy odds to win the Heisman Trophy. Alabama tailback Derrick Henry retained his place at No. 1 and has 2-3 odds while Elliott and LSU’s Leonard Fournette came in at No. 2 with 9-2 odds.

All three lead the country in rushing and are within 50 yards of each other.

Elliott is third among the backs in both yardage and touchdowns, but could have the chance to move himself into the front-runner position with a few big games against potentially three ranked teams to end the season.

Following the nation’s top running backs were Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson (7-1 odds), Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman (25-1 odds) and Christian McCaffrey (50-1 odds).

Elliott does have history on his side. A Buckeye tailback won the award in 1955 (Howard Cassady), 1975 (Archie Griffin) and 1995 (Eddie George). The 20-year trend suggests it’s Elliott’s turn in 2015.

The Heisman Trophy finalists will be announced Dec. 7.
