The son of a legendary college and NFL running back is considering Ohio State as a potential landing spot to play his college football.
On Sunday, E.J. Smith, son of former Florida Gators and Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith, narrowed down his list of college options to five programs. While the list was full of SEC teams, the Buckeyes made the cut.
Smith, a four-star all-purpose back in the 2020 class, announced his final five on Twitter. He’s including Texas A&M, Georgia, Florida, Stanford and Ohio State.
It’s that time. Top 5. Thank you family and coaches for guiding me towards making my five decisions. There isn’t an order to my top 5. pic.twitter.com/eBzD0U5NO9

Smith is ranked inside the top 150 overall athletes in the 2020 class and is the No. 4 all-purpose back of the cycle.
Smith’s father, Emmitt, needs no introduction to the football world. He’s considered one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, rushing for 18,355 yards and 164 touchdowns in a 15-year NFL career.
Emmitt Smith was a three-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowl selection with the Dallas Cowboys. As a running back at Florida, he was a three-time All-SEC selection and was the conference’s Most Valuable Player in 1989.
