ESPN releases updated CFP predictions following Week 1 action
With Week 1 (mostly) in the books, it is time to look at some updated College Football Playoff predictions!
There are still a few opening week games left on the schedule, but the majority of teams have already completed their Week 1 contests. There were definitely some surprises, especially in the B1G. Michigan State and Penn State struggled to put away upset-minded teams, and Michigan’s offense was once again stagnant in a key matchup under Jim Harbaugh.
Still, there were some usual contenders flexing some muscle in early season contests. Ohio State put up 77 points against Oregon State without Urban Meyer, while Alabama and Clemson played like two of the best teams in the country.
With those results in mind, ESPN released the Playoff predictions of Andrea Adelson, Edward Aschoff, Chris Low, and Adam Rittenberg after Week 1 games. Every member had Alabama and Clemson at the top of their Playoff field with everyone but Aschoff picking Notre Dame to make the field following the win over Michigan.
In terms of B1G teams, Ohio State was the only team to make an appearance on the predictions with Aschoff and Rittenberg both predicting the Buckeyes to grab the No. 3 seed.
Auburn and Oklahoma were the other two teams to make this list of predictions.
