Justin Fields has been on a mission this season. Heading into Week 3 against Rutgers (Nov. 7 , 11 a.m. CST/BTN), Ohio State is looking like a legit national title contender in large part because of its talented quarterback.

So much so that ESPN analyst David Pollack believes Fields has jumped past Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence as the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

“Yeah. I would start considering that now,” Pollack said on Get Up. “He’s definitely on track to making this decision a lot more difficult than we thought at the beginning of the season.”

Pollack cites the attributes that makes Fields worthy of the top spot in the draft.

“I know Trevor has separated himself and is one of the best prospects we’ve seen in awhile but if you’re not watching Justin Fields through a couple games this season, you’re missing out,” Pollack said. “It’s a doggone treat. The ball is coming out quick and the ball is coming out accurately, the ball is spread out all over the field. By the way, in the new NFL, where you’re seeing more quarterback runs and more quarterbacks being successful because they can buy time and make decisions, he can do that as well.”

Pollack explains which NFL quarterback he compares the dynamic Fields to.

“Justin Fields is coming on strong and I know Trevor Lawrence didn’t play last week and this has nothing to do with Trevor not playing it has everything to do with Justin Fields. His accuracy, his decision making, his build, his thickness, his ability to run. I think, when I compare them, he’s a more athletic Dak Prescott. If I’m looking for a guy like that to build my future around, that’s pretty doggone solid.”

Fields has amassed 594 yards, 6 touchdown and no interceptions, while adding 50 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Fields is coming off a season in which he finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.

If Fields continues at this pace and Ohio State remains undefeated, the prize could be his for the taking this season.
