ESPN's FPI predicts CFP semifinal rematch between Ohio State and Clemson
The College Football Playoff is less than two weeks away and it’s never too early to start looking at predictions for one of the games.
In the No. 2 versus No. 3 matchup, Clemson will play Ohio State in a rematch of a game last year when Clemson won.
ESPN’s FPI has already predicted how the semifinal game will go and as expected, it’s basically a coin flip.
According to the FPI, Ohio State has a 49.8% chance to win against the Tigers.
This is likely going to be the closest of the two semifinal matchups. Alabama is expected to beat Notre Dame, especially after the way the Irish played against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game.
But for this game, it’s going to be an absolute dog fight. Justin Fields is coming off his worst game of the season against Northwestern so he’s going to have to be a lot better if the Buckeyes are to beat Clemson. Throwing for not even 150 yards and no touchdowns to two interceptions just will not cut it.
Kickoff for this game will be on Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
