If you’re a believer in ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) as a reliable source of predictions, then Ohio State is in good shape for the remainder of the season.
The FPI, which measures each team’s chances of winning on a game-to-game basis, seems to really favor the Buckeyes, as they’re an overwhelming favorite to win the remainder of their games for the 2017 season.
While Ohio State is only given a 38.7 percent chance of winning out, it’s got at least a 76 percent win probably in each of the remaining six games on the schedule. In three of those games, the Buckeyes are at least a 95 percent favorite.
Here’s how the FPI has the remainder of Ohio State’s schedule broken down:
The two most significant on that list are Penn State and Michigan, which the Buckeyes have huge win probabilities in both games. Against Penn State, ESPN has Ohio State tabbed with a 76 percent win probability. In The Game, the Buckeyes have a win chance of 85.6 percent.
If this played out, the Buckeyes would record three wins over ranked opponents, win the B1G East and would certainly reenter the College Football Playoff conversation.
We’ll find out over the next two months how accurate ESPN’s Football Power Index truly is.
