ESPN's FPI predicts winner of the CFP National Championship Game
As we get closer and closer to Monday’s national title game, predictions are starting to pour in as folks across the country make their picks for either Ohio State or Alabama.
One of the places we have looked to all season for predictions is ESPN’s FPI. This mathematical formula has helped out with game predictions along with odds for things such as the Big Ten championship. Well, the FPI has its pick for the national championship game.

If you’re a Buckeye fan, you might want to look away. The FPI gives Ohio State only a 37.5 percent chance of winning against the Crimson Tide.
This result is hardly surprising as Alabama has been favored just about everywhere whether it is in Las Vegas or among talking heads. It is the same thing the Buckeyes went through leading up to the semifinal against Clemson.
For much of the season, the FPI has given Ohio State good odds as the Buckeyes found themselves as heavy favorites in most games prior to the College Football Playoff.
The Buckeyes probably do not mind the underdog tag. It worked out well against the Tigers. Plus, Ohio State has a good track record in the playoff when going up against a highly-regarded Alabama squad.
