Everyone associated with college football is getting the opportunity to weigh in on Ohio State’s decision to suspend head coach Urban Meyer three games for his knowledge of a domestic violence incident involving former assistant Zach Smith.

SEC Network host and longtime college football radio host Paul Finebaum got the opportunity to give his opinion on the suspension last night. ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis was also asked for his thoughts on the situation.

Davis doesn’t seem to think that the three-game suspension is really a worthy punishment.

“Urban clearly lied and he clearly knew,” Davis said on SportsCenter. “The deal with nothing being a felony, I understand that. The biggest thing here is I don’t think the 3-game suspension does anything. I think it’s a bit of a half-measure to be honest. He either did something to rise to the level of his removal or he didn’t.”

Instead of serving a suspension, Davis offered his own opinion of what an adequate punishment might have looked like.

“My suggestion previously had been perhaps some type of voluntary donation of a significant portion of their salary to causes that could help those who have been affected by domestic violence. It just seems like the suspension doesn’t do much.”

Meyer’s three game suspension will come in the first three games of the 2018 season. The head coach will miss the Buckeyes’ matchups against Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU.
