Former Ohio State defensive lineman Cormontae Hamilton will be continuing his college football career much closer to home.

Monday, Hamilton announced on Twitter that he will be transferring to Memphis, playing in front of his hometown fans. He hit the transfer portal after spending three seasons with the Buckeyes. He was a former 3-star member of the 2019 recruiting class.

“First off I would like to give thanks to God for the opportunities and allowing me to play at The Ohio State University for three years. To the coaching staff I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to be a Buckeye,” Hamilton wrote on Twitter. “I would like to announce that I will be attending University of Memphis with 3 years of eligibility left.”

Hamilton appeared in 13 career games for the Buckeyes over the last two seasons, including 8 contests in 2021. He totaled 6 tackles, 4 of which were solo stops and 3 were tackles for loss. Hamilton was also credited with 2 sacks over his career.

Last season, Memphis finished the regular season with a 6-6 record. The Tigers earned a trip to play in the Hawai’i Bowl but the game was canceled.
