Former Ohio State linebacker Dallas Gant might be leaving Columbus but he won’t be leaving his home state.

On Wednesday, Toledo announced that former Buckeye Dallas Gant has signed with the program. The post came early on National Signing Day.

Gant entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal in late September and early into the Buckeyes’ 2021 season. He spent four years with Ohio State and was a 4-star member of the 2018 recruiting class.

Gant is a native of Toledo, so his decision will also serve as a homecoming for the linebacker. He will have two years of eligibility to use with the Rockets with the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver from 2020 and preserving a redshirt in 2021 by only appearing in 3 games.

In his four seasons at Ohio State, Gant played in 36 career games and was credited with 54 tackles. He also had 3.5 stops for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1.5 sacks and a pass break-up.

During the 2021 campaign, Gant totaled 10 tackles in his 3 appearances.

Gant was one of two Buckeye linebackers to hit the transfer portal during the 2021 season. K’Vaughan Pope also entered his name into the database in September.
