Everyone is looking to Monday night’s National Championship game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Ohio State, but for some, eyes are already looking ahead to April’s 2021 NFL Draft.

Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields is expected to declare for the draft after the season ends and his opponent in the College Football Playoffs semifinal, Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, has already made his plans known that he will head to the NFL.

Monday night will be the last chance for Fields to make a statement, and demonstrate fully how he should be considered a top choice come April.

The debate between Fields and Lawrence over who should be the top pick will likely continue for the next couple months. The Tigers signal caller is the presumptive No. 1 pick, and even a former Buckeyes QB has come out on Lawrence’s side.

“I’m going to try to be unbiased as possible,” Jones told TMZ, “but I’m going to pick Trevor (Lawrence).”

“I think he’s the safest bet because he has more of a sample size — a 3-year starter and some of the things he has done … I predict both guys will have an opportunity to play at a young, young stage in their careers and have a tremendous effect on whatever organization drafts them.”

Fields and the Buckeyes will play Alabama on Monday night in the National Championship Game in Miami Gardens, Fla. – kickoff is set for 8:00PM.
