Extra motivation? OSU's Dawand Jones says Purdue never offered a scholarship during recruitment
Ohio State’s Dawand Jones has a past with Purdue. Jones is a right tackle from Indianapolis that was a 3-star out of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis per the 247Sports composite.
Jones revealed that during his high school recruitment, Purdue never offered a scholarship but offered him a spot as a walk-on. He said that he thinks about that a lot since he’s from Indiana. For what it’s worth, Jones had a number of Power 5 offers out of high school, including USC, Auburn, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas, among others.
Eleven Warriors beat reporter Griffin Strom posted the news on Twitter Wednesday evening:
Ohio State RT Dawand Jones, an Indianapolis native, says Purdue only offered him as a walk-on during his recruitment, and that he thinks about it “all the time.”

It’ll be fun to see if Jones plays with a chip on his shoulder against the Boilermakers.
No. 4 Ohio State (8-1) and No. 19 Purdue (6-3) meet at ‘The Shoe’ Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
