Ezekiel Elliott had every excuse to ignore everything around him and immediately walk back to the locker room following the Cowboys’ fell 23-0 to the Colts on Sunday afternoon.

The star running back was held to 87 yards on 18 carries as Dallas suffered its first shutout loss since 2003. With the game played in Indianapolis, Elliott probably wasn’t expecting to hear many positive remarks when he trotted off the field, either.

But Elliott did notice one fan at Lucas Oil Stadium, a young Cowboys fan enjoying his first game. That was enough to delay the running back’s trip back to the showers.

Elliott saw the youngster’s sign, took off his cleats, signed them and gave them away to give the kid one of the best memories of the holiday season.

How cool is that?

It’s not uncommon for NFL stars to stop and pass off items to fans on their way through the tunnel. But on the road, after a blowout loss, it doesn’t happen too frequently.

Elliott was a hero to one young fan at Lucas Oil Stadium even before the game on Sunday. There’s no doubt he’ll remember his first Cowboys game forever.
