Stokes’ accomplishment was shared on social media through Ohio State’s accounts. He’s the first true freshman of the spring to remove the black stripe. Oklahoma State transfer defensive back Tanner McCalister was the first newcomer to remove the stripe this spring.

Stokes was a 4-star athlete out of Florida. He was listed as a Top 50 prospect out of the state and the No. 357 overall talent for the 2022 recruiting cycle. He had offers from 30 programs and committed to Ohio State.

This accomplishment from Stokes also shows that, once on campus, stars and recruiting rankings mean nothing. He was the third-lowest-ranked member of the Buckeyes’ 2022 class.

Stokes will certainly be a player for people to keep an eye on during Ohio State’s spring game on April 16.
