Coming out of 2021, Ohio State stands well-positioned in both football and basketball during the 2022-23 athletic calendar.

On the gridiron, the Buckeyes return a host of talent and production. Leading that group is CJ Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TreVeyon Henderson and a host of others.

On the hardwood, Chris Holtmann is adding a top-10 recruiting class after winning 20 games last season. Holtmann also had something to say about a recent claim by Stroud.

During B1G Media Days, Stroud boasted about his prowess on the basketball court in relation to others on the football team. Along with Smith-Njigba and offensive lineman Dawand Jones, Stroud claimed a group of Buckeye football players might be able to edge out the basketball team in a hoops contest.

Asked about Stroud’s claim, Holtmann mostly dodged the question. Instead, he just said he loved that the Buckeyes have the “most confident QB1 in the country” while flashing a knowing grin.

It is an interesting hypothetical, but fans will likely not get a chance to see the two Buckeye teams face each other any time soon.
