All Dwayne Haskins is hoping for is an opportunity. This week, while meeting with reporters, he indicated that he’ll be getting exactly that now that there’s a quarterback vacancy in Pittsburgh.
With Ben Roethlisberger retiring, the Steelers will be in a position to usher in a new starting quarterback. Though his first few seasons in the NFL haven’t gone quite as planned, it seems that the former Ohio State start will get his chance in Pittsburgh.
Speaking with reporters this week, Haskins said “They’re giving me a chance to compete, a chance to start, and that’s all I can ask for.”

Haskins, a former first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, spent the beginning of his career the Washington Football Team. He was released during his second year with the franchise and was picked up by the Steelers.
He did not play during the 2021 season.
During his two years in Washington, Haskins got his shot to be the starting quarterback but it didn’t last long. In 16 career games in the nation’s capital, Haskins threw for 2,804 yards and 12 touchdowns with 14 interceptions.
