New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones had gone the first two weeks of the 2021 season without an interception. He made it halfway through Sunday’s game with the New Orleans Saints, when he was finally picked off by Saints defensive back Malcolm Jenkins.

And it cost Jones and the Patriots.

The first play of the third quarter, Jones’ pass came in low to tight end Jonnu Smith, and after Smith dove for the ball, it went off his hands and wound up with Jenkins. None of the Patriots were in Jenkins’ way and he took the pick to the endzone for a touchdown.

The pick-six is the first for Jenkins since he played for the Eagles in 2016.

Jenkins is midway through his second run with the Saints after spending six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was drafted in the first round by the Saints in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.

Jenkins has 21 career interceptions and this marks his seventh defensive touchdown.
