Notre Dame’s new head coach Marcus Freeman is hiring former Ohio State LB James Laurinaitis to be a part of the Notre Dame coaching staff. Laurinaitis has been working at 97.1 the Fan in Columbus, OH., as a radio host and color analyst for the B1G network.

Freeman and Laurinaitis played at Ohio State as LBs from 2005-2008. The Irish open the season next year in the Shoe to take on Ohio State on Sept. 3. 2022.

Freeman is 0-1 as a head coach as he lost the Fiesta Bowl to No. 9 Oklahoma State 37-35 after being up 28-7. Ohio State finished the year with a Rose Bowl classic as they took down No. 11 Utah 48-45 in an all time shootout.

Next season’s opening game between the Buckeyes and the Irish will be one of the most highly anticipated games of the year and is sure to be talked about all off-season.
