Hooker was expected to be a full participant in training camp on Monday, but he tweaked his hamstring during the conditioning test.
The former Buckeye underwent shoulder and sports hernia surgeries in January. At the time of the draft, Hooker’s health was a concern to some teams and draft analysts.
It could be a precautionary measure by the Colts, but it is significant that a rookie could miss significant time during training camp.
Hooker had a terrific year in 2016 while at Ohio State, totaling 75 tackles and recording six interceptions. Three of those picks were returned for touchdowns.
He was a first-team All-American selection and was the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Colts.
