Former Ohio State defensive back Andre Turrentine is pumped up the for upcoming College Football Playoff matchup between Tennessee, his current team, and OSU. Turrentine played for the Buckeyes in 2021 before transferring to the Vols, so this game will be a reunion of sorts.

Ahead of the matchup, Turrentine was asked about returning to Ohio Stadium and offered a comment that will surely make the rounds.

“The Shoe isn’t as loud as the SEC,” said Turrentine. “It’s a different animal here.”

Turrentine played in home games with the Buckeyes and also played on the road at Michigan. Still, the DB thinks the SEC offers a different level of noise and environment when compared to other conferences.

“Whether you’re in South Carolina at nighttime, or whether you’re in Arkansas at nighttime, or Neyland at nighttime, or the day time for that matter, it’s loud here,” Turrentine explained. “It’s deafening.”

To be fair, the defender did give his former school some credit as well.

“I would say that the SEC is a little bit louder but The Shoe brings it as well,” said the DB.

Turrentine has been a key piece of the Tennessee defense in 2024. The junior has collected 35 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. Turrentine’s efforts have helped the Vols have the No. 17 passing defense in the country.

Now, Turrentine’s squad will get ready to play in their biggest game in years. The Vols and Buckeyes will kick off from The Shoe on Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
