Since his time in Columbus, Barrett has bounced around teams in the NFL, being involved in 23 transactions just last year. On Christmas Eve, it was announced that Barrett had signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Steelers are projected to barely miss the playoffs in the AFC. They could make the playoffs in a couple scenarios, but the easiest is for them to win their final regular season game against the Baltimore Ravens, while the Tennessee Titans also lose to the Houston Texans.

The Steelers have had trouble at quarterback all season long, and as it stands, the team is without Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph for their final game due to injuries. That leaves Devlin Hodges and Paxton Lynch on the team’s active roster.

Now, the Steelers will have Barrett on their practice squad as well. If Pittsburgh makes the playoffs and numerous injuries occur, perhaps Barrett could see playing time in extremely meaningful games.

For now, though, Barrett is on the practice squad.
