Former Ohio State star Chase Young has reportedly signed a new multiyear contract in the NFL’s free agency period.

On Tuesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Young was signing a 3-year deal to return to the New Orleans Saints where he spent the 2024 season. Rapoport reports it is a 3-year contract worth $51 million and a max value of $57 million, keeping Young through 2027 before he will be up for a new deal.

The team has not confirmed the move but Young reacted to the report on social media:

Young finished his Buckeye career as one of the top pass rushers in Ohio State football history with 30.5 career sacks. He set Ohio State’s single-season record with 16.5 in 2019 and is tied for the most sacks in a single game (4) in program history. Young became the first Buckeye to capture the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy in the same season (2019) while also becoming a consensus All-American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Award.

As the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, Young captured the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year Award with 7.5 sacks but was limited to 12 total games across the 2021-22 seasons. He was eventually traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 season and rebounded into form upon signing with the Saints for 2024.

While Young did not register a start, he appeared in all 17 games with 5.5 sacks, 8 TFL and 21 QB hits, finishing as one of the key pieces for New Orleans. Now, he returns with an important multiyear deal in hand.
