Former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett blasts NCAA investigations directed at Jim Harbaugh
Former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett went to bat for Jim Harbaugh recently. Despite playing for the Buckeyes, Clarett is not a fan of the recent NCAA investigations into the Michigan program.
In a Sunday post on social media, Clarett said the banter between The Game rivals is “fun and comical” but admitted he believes the Michigan investigations related to hamburgers and sign-stealing provide just another reason “for everyone to be mad” at the NCAA. Clarett even pointed out he has “spoken up” for the Wolverines in both cases.
The former running back went on to call everything “actually stupid” and said “good scouting” provides every team with enough signs and signals for opponents. Though people might be mad at Jim Harbaugh or the Wolverines, Clarett said the NCAA is “who we all should be mad at” for silly rules.
Clarett even went so far as to compare Michigan’s ongoing investigation to former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel and the tattoo scandal in Columbus. Here’s what Clarett had to say about everything:
I can go back and forth with the Michigan and OSU banter. It’s fun and comical on lots of levels. I can take the jokes about my past and all of the above…. In all honesty I think the investigation into Michigan for the hamburger, sign viewing or whatever it is is another reason…

I always say that there’s far greater issues of concern than hamburgers, sign viewing, tattoos and all of the other silly things that are in place to keep college sports in its current state. If the NCAA wanted to tackle real issues it would be about the “education” most student…

I had a great birthday today but wanted to say something before I went to sleep. I don’t like this thing going on with Harbaugh. It feels like the Michigan version of Tressel and the tattoos. Ruining or trying to defame these coaches after work put in to build these programs… pic.twitter.com/RdNij0i7sP
