The New Orleans Saints have announced that former defensive end Will Smith will be inducted into the organization’s Ring of Honor. The team will hold a ceremony during halftime of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Smith was a first-round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft and played all 10 seasons with the Saints. He finished his career with 459 total tackles, 67.5 sacks and 20 forced fumbles. He was a Super Bowl champion and a Pro Bowl selection.

Prior to playing in the NFL, Smith was a standout lineman at Ohio State. In 2003, he was the B1G Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year. He was also a member of the 2002 BCS title team.

Smith was tragically killed in 2016. He was just 34 years old.

Sunday’s game between the Buccaneers and Saints is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will air on FOX.
