The final week of the NFL preseason is here, and there are plenty of former B1G players trying to make a roster before the teams have to cut to  the 53 man roster  by the Tuesday  Aug. 31 deadline.

A couple of former B1G players on the Jacksonville Jaguars were making plays in Sunday’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Former Iowa QB C.J. Beathard threw a bomb to former Ohio State WR Devin Smith, who was waived by the Jets, and the Jaguars had signed him only yesterday.

Devin Smith is a former 2nd round pick by the New York Jets. In his 4 years (2011-2014) at Ohio State, Smith had 2,503 receiving yards for 20.7 avg. And 30 touchdowns.

Smith had played in 18 games with the New York Jets after being drafted 37th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Smith had 15 receptions for 248 yards on 16.5 yards per catch and 2 touchdowns.

The Former Iowa QB C.J. Beathard was drafted in 3rd round 104th overall in the 2017 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Beathard played in 19 games for the 49ers, where he had 58.6% completion rate; He threw for 3,469 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

The Jacksonville Jaguars open the season Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Houston Texans.
