Urban Meyer — unsurprisingly — has the 2014 Ohio State team on top of his list. That shouldn’t be too shocking, seeing as how he coached that team. Aside from the Buckeyes, he has 2018 Clemson as his next-best team.
For Matt Leinart, he also has 2018 Clemson, but he has the Tigers as his best squad. The 2014 Buckeyes make up his fourth-best team. And for Brady Quinn, he has 2013 Florida State as his top team. For Quinn, the 2014 Buckeyes rank fourth as well.
What’s to take from this? That there are only a few teams that truly stand out. The 2014 Buckeyes made everyone’s top five. So did 2013 Florida State. The 2010 Auburn squad, despite not getting any first or second place votes, made everyone’s top five as well.

Those three aforementioned squads were quite special. For the Buckeyes, guys like Ezekiel Elliott, Braxton Miller, Joey Bosa, Michael Thomas, Terry McLaurin and many others were — or turned into — absolute studs.
That’s what makes these teams some of the best of all-time. It’s not just one or two players that were incredible. It’s the depth of having 10-20 guys that any average fan would know about.
That Buckeye team was absolutely stacked. No getting around it.
