Gus Johnson has called a lot of big games at a lot of different levels. He’s seen some unbelievable performances and called some of the best games in sports during his career.
Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins had one of those unforgettable games on Saturday night in Indianapolis. Johnson didn’t want the Buckeye running back to leave the field without knowing how special his performance was on the biggest stage.
Dobbins finished the B1G Championship Game with 172 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries in Ohio State’s 34-21 win over Wisconsin. That victory secured Ohio State’s perfect season and locked up the team’s third-straight conference title.
After the game, Johnson made his way down to the field to have a conversation with Dobbins, and to give him a special keepsake from the game.
Johnson handed Dobbins his signed game notes to remember Saturday’s performance by. It was a pretty cool moment between the play-by-play broadcaster and the Ohio State back.

Dobbins has had a phenomenal year with the Buckeyes and has been a huge reason why the team sits at 13-0 and is headed to the College Football Playoff. His performance against Wisconsin at Lucas Oil Stadium was just as important as any he’s had this season.
Johnson wanted to make sure Dobbins doesn’t forget about the big game.
