Martinez played in one game last season — Ohio State’s win over Indiana but ultimately redshirted.
As a recruit, he was a 4-star prospect and the No. 14 athlete in the country according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 323 overall player in the class and the No. 7 player from the state of Michigan.
He attended Muskegon High School in Muskegon, Michigan and was a quarterback in high school.
It’s unclear how much playing time Martinez will earn this season, but it seems that he’s left an imprint on the Ohio State coaching staff during fall camp.
The Buckeyes open their season on Sept. 2 at Minnesota.
