Exactly one week ago, Ohio State made the last-second decision to pass on a trip to Illinois and call off the Week 6 contest against the Fighting Illini. So, until word came from the Buckeyes that the game against Michigan State would be played this week, there was some concern as to whether or not the two teams would go head to head.
Some good news came out of Columbus on Friday afternoon. Ohio State’s athletic department sent out a message confirming it’s making the trip to East Lansing and will play on Saturday.
“The Ohio State football team will travel to East Lansing, Mich., Friday evening in advance of its game Saturday against the Michigan State Spartans,” the release said. “Kickoff at Spartan Stadium is set for 12:06 p.m. on ABC.”
Ohio State enters Saturday’s game against Michigan State as the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff rankings with a 4-0 record. The Spartans are 2-3, but have defeated Michigan and Northwestern to give Mel Tucker some serious credentials in his first year with the program.
Ryan Day will also be unable to coach the Buckeyes on Saturday due to a positive COVID-19 test.
