Garrett Wilson’s rookie season with the New York  Jets has landed the former Ohio State star an NFL honor.

On Tuesday, the Pro Football Writers of America announced their picks for the NFL’s Rookie of the Year Awards. The Jets captured both top honors with Sauce Gardner landing the Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year while Wilson was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Wilson appeared in all 17 games for the Jets with 12 starts and set rookie records for the Jets with 83 catches for 1,103 yards. He scored 4 touchdowns on the season with 8 games of 75+ receiving yards to lead all rookies in the 2022 season. Wilson is the first rookie for the Jets to win the award.

During his time at Ohio State, Wilson recorded 143 catches for 2,213 yards and 23 receiving touchdowns. His best year came as a junior when he finished second on the Buckeyes with 70 catches, 1,058 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns as a part of the three-headed receiving threat with Chris Olave and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

We’ll see what Wilson dials up for his second season in 2023, but his career is off to a flying start.
