Ohio State is getting one of the top players in the country in Tate Martell.

Based on Martell winning the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award, that argument is legitimate.

Martell got the surprise of a lifetime when former Heisman Trophy winner and Ohio State legend Eddie George was waiting for him in his house when he got home from school.

Naturally, George was making buckeyes:

As George said, Martell’s high school numbers were off the charts. Martell was the second future Buckeye to win the honor and the first since Robert Smith in 1989 (via Eleven Warriors).

The No. 2 dual-threat quarterback has been a key part of Ohio State’s 2017 class, which is ranked No. 2 in the country. Martell has big plans on recruiting some of the nation’s best.

Regardless of how many more recruits the Buckeyes land, Martell could be the centerpiece of one of OSU’s top classes in school history.
