Put a hold on the Torrance Gibson hype train.
The Ohio State receiver is suspended for the 2016 season, the team announced on Monday. Gibson’s suspension was for a violation of the Ohio State student code of conduct.
The former highly touted dual-threat quarterback recruit made the switch to receiver last season and was set to have a role as a redshirt freshman this year. He starred in the spring game and was a likely candidate to see snaps in 2016.

He was dealing with a hamstring injury throughout fall camp that forced him to miss a significant amount of practices. Still, he was expected to get his first collegiate action.
It isn’t clear what exactly led to the suspension, but whatever it was, the Buckeyes will be without one of their most promising young play-makers for the year. It’s also unknown what that means for Gibson’s future in Columbus beyond 2016.
Ohio State will kick off the 2016 season on Saturday against Bowling Green.
