Greg McElroy reacted to the news of Kyle McCord being the starting QB for Ohio State in Week 1. McElroy believed that the job wasn’t locked up on Tuesday.

While McCord is the starter, Ryan Day said that Devin Brown will still receive some playing time in the season opener. Unless McCord just lights it up against Indiana, McElroy doesn’t see the job being finalized.

“If you listen to what Ryan Day had to say, he said the starter for Indiana is Kyle McCord. That doesn’t necessarily mean that this is set in stone. It doesn’t mean that couldn’t change in week two or three. I think this is a very fluid situation. If McCord goes in against Indiana, against B1G competition and lights it up, then the rest is history. He’ll be the guy moving forward. But if he leaves the door open the tiniest bit, I could see Devin Brown getting the start against Youngstown State in Week 2.”

Finding the right QB is obviously a major call, especially for a program that maintains some of the best Big Ten Championship odds to begin the season. Fans looking to take part in those odds can get in on the action with our BetMGM Ohio promo code!

McCord will have a chance to prove he can handle the job on Saturday. It would go a long way if McCord proves he can handle things against B1G competition as well.

Fans can see if Day made the right decision Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
