Young has obviously blossomed since his freshman and sophomore seasons, but even then, Schiano knew how special Young could be. He was on ‘The Michael Kay’ show on ESPN New York and was asked about the current potential Heisman Trophy-winning defensive end:

“He’s off the charts (…) yeah, he’s got all the tools to be as good of a player he wants to be,” Schiano said. “If you just watch him…You see what Nick Bosa has done, this is going to be another guy who is going to have immediate impact in the National Football League.”

He talked about Young’s impact right now at Ohio State as well:

“Having a player like Chase play the way he has clearly changes the game and makes everybody on that defense better because you have to account for him on every play,” he said. “But that’s only good if he plays that way, and he is. And we all know his potential and what he’s done, but I thought his intensity and the way he approached that game was special. You could tell he played with a chip on his shoulder. But that’s only good if he keeps continuing to play that way, and I think that’s why you’ve got to give him credit week in and week out; he’s played the same way, he’s been consistent, he’s been tough, he’s been productive. But now we’re into the teeth of this thing, and he’s going to have to continue to play that way because now he’s got the biggest bull’s eye he’s ever had on his chest, and that’s going to be tough going down the stretch.”

The entire country will get to see Young and the Buckeyes take on Wisconsin in the B1G Championship Game at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The game will be televised on FOX.
