NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year? Chase Young had another monster performance on Sunday

Chase Young had another monster game on Sunday to contribute to his Rookie of the Year campaign.

The Ohio State product managed six tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, two pass deflections and a touchdown in Washington’s 23-15 win over San Francisco.

Young was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He’s posted 5.5 sacks, 8 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles during his rookie campaign.

Young leads all rookies in sacks by a wide margin. Antoine Winfield Jr. and D.J. Wonnum are tied for second with three sacks each. Additionally, he leads this rookie class in forced fumbles and tackles for loss.

According to Pro Football Focus, he’s also performing well in advanced statistics like QB pressure rate.

Per SportsBettingDime.com, Young is currently the odds on favorite to win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. Other candidates include Winfield Jr. and former LSU linebacker Patrick Queen.

Washington currently has a one game lead in the NFC East. Its next game is against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 20.
