Justin Fields seems destined to wreak havoc on B1G defenses this season, both with his arm and his legs.

It is no secret that Fields was the top-rated, dual-threat quarterback coming out of high school in 2018. He also displayed his athleticism in small doses as a freshman at Georgia. But just how fast is he?

Well, according to Stephen Means with Cleveland.com, Fields’ 40-yard dash time would have been the fastest by a quarterback at the 2019 NFL Combine. The fastest time at the combine was 4.57 by former Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley.

Fields’ 40-yard time in May? He claims it was a sub-4.5:

“The laser (time), was a 4.42 and then the hand (time) was a 4.38,” Fields said. “I didn’t think I was going to run it that fast. My goal was to get it under 4.45 laser. I definitely achieved that so (I’m) happy about that.”

It certainly takes a lot more than just being fast to become a successful quarterback. Still, Fields’ speed is yet another weapon defenses will need to account for this fall.
