TreVeyon Henderson hasn’t taken one handoff in an Ohio State uniform, but already the bar is set sky-high for the 5-star member of the Buckeyes’ 2021 recruiting class. Multiple analysts believe he could end up being one of the top players from the cycle.

FOX Sports college football analyst RJ Young recently provided comparisons for some of the top prospects in the 2021 class. When it came to Henderson, the No. 1 running back and No. 22 overall player in the class, Young had a really strong comparison.

Former Stanford star running back Christian McCaffrey was the guy Young selected as Henderson’s comparison. McCaffrey rushed for 3,922 yards and had another 1,206 receiving yards and totaled 31 touchdowns with the Cardinal.

Not a bad comparison. But that’s not where the conversation ended.

Zack Poff of MaxPreps also had a rave review for Henderson. Not only does Poff believe Henderson can be one of the better players of the recruiting cycle, but he thinks the incoming freshman will leave Columbus as one of the Top 3 running backs in Ohio State’s history.

“You just turn on his junior tape and you’re just like…what?” Poff said. “Every play was a 70-yard house call. I’m telling you, I feel like this dude is going to be, he could end up being better than Eddie George and Ezekiel Elliott and obviously all the other great Ohio State running backs. I don’t know if I want to get too carried away and say Archie Griffin, but I’ll say this: He’s gonna leave Ohio State has a Top 3 running back all-time. That’s how high I am on this kid’s game.”

That’s pretty elite company for Henderson’s name to be mentioned with, especially before playing a down in a Buckeyes uniform. And, if he lives up to the hype, he’s going to be incredibly fun to watch.

Henderson was a 5-star member of Ohio State’s 2021 class, which ranked at the top of the B1G and No. 2 nationally. The Buckeyes are coming off a 7-1 season and appearance in the national championship.
