A.J. Perez with USA TODAY reported Thursday that investigators have had “very preliminary communications” with Powell, Ohio police. However, it appears that there are currently no plans to interview Smith before the conclusion of the investigation:

Brad Koffel, Smith’s attorney, said in a text message that the investigators have not sought to interview his client and, as of Thursday afternoon, there were no plans for Smith to be interviewed as part of the investigation, which the school announced Sunday is expected to be wrapped up within 14 days.

It is certainly an interesting development, but that could change throughout the investigation. For now, it is more “wait and see” for everyone following the case.
