‘It’s a failure’: What Ryan Day said following Ohio State’s loss to Michigan

The number two ranking has been the mark of death for B1G teams as the Iowa, Michigan State, and now, Ohio State has suffered significant losses while ranked number two in the nation. Ohio State had a chance to show why are regarded as one of the top teams in the nation by taking their rivals on the road against No. 5 Michigan.

Instead, Ohio State’s defense could not contain the high-volume rushing attack of Michigan. Ohio State allowed 487 total yards from Michigan with 297 of them coming from the running game. Michigan averaged 7.2 yards per run on 41 carries. Michigan running back Hassan Haskins rushed for 169 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries for an average of six yards per carry.

Ohio State lost to Michigan for the first time since 2011. They previously won 15 of the last 16 matchups versus their rivals in “The Game.”

Michigan secures the East Division and will play for the B1G Conference Championship with a chance to play for their first CFP Playoff appearance. Ohio State will be left out of the playoff for the first time since 2018.
