Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has been on quite a run since that less-than-stellar performance in Week 2 vs. Oklahoma, and it’s helped propel the Buckeyes to a 5-1 start to the season.

In that home loss to the Sooners, Barrett completed 19-of-35 passes for 183 yards and an interception. He was raked over the coals for his inability to stretch the field and his inaccuracies as a passer. But since that game, the senior gunslinger has been sensational.

Barrett has completed nearly 70 percent of his passes and has thrown 13 touchdown passes without an interception in the last four games, as the Buckeyes have won games by an average of 42 points.

So what’s been different in Columbus?

“I think I’m just developing and getting better each and every week,” Barrett told 247Sports. “I’m understanding what we’re trying to do offensively. I’m getting better as far as watching more film and getting that snapshot of the defense before plays and expecting things better.

“I think I am playing well, but there are still some things I can improve on.”

Barrett’s hot streak has come against the likes of Army, UNLV, Rutgers and Maryland — not exactly the cream of the crop. But still, his success following a rough outing against Oklahoma is a positive sign for the Buckeyes. Things will get a lot tougher shortly, as Ohio State has Nebraska, Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan still remaining on the schedule.

Success in those games will really determine how much progress Barrett has made since the loss to the Sooners.

Ohio State travels to Lincoln on Saturday for a night game against Nebraska.
