JT Tuimoloau, Ohio State’s star defensive end and one of the better defenders in college football, suffered an apparent ankle injury on Friday night against the Texas Longhorns at the Sugar Bowl.

Tuimoloau has had a good amount of tape put on his left ankle after limping off the field halfway through the 2nd quarter. His ankle was rolled up on by a Texas lineman.

Soon after the play he was seen testing his ankle on the sidelines with an Ohio State reserve O-lineman. The NBC broadcast has stated that he intends to try and get back into the game.

Obviously, this is a massive loss for Ohio State if he’s unable to go the remainder of this game – which as stated, seems unlikely. Tuimoloau already has 2 sacks in this game, finding Texas QB Quinn Ewers for a couple massive plays. Ewers and Co. have not been able to move the ball much so far in this one, and that’s directly due to a pass rush that is making life hard for the Dallas native.

Texas is down 7 early, but they are far from out of this thing – sitting at 7-0 Ohio State with 5:22 remaining in the half. Now, we’re set to wonder how long it will take Steve Sarkisian to put Arch Manning into the game if Ewers’ struggles continue.
