Jack Sawyer had some solid moments as a true freshman in 2021. Now, the former 5-star prospect is looking for a breakout year heading into 2022.

During his first season at Ohio State, Sawyer produced 11 total tackles, 3 TFL, 3 sacks and a forced fumble. He recorded 2 tackles, a TFL, a sack and a forced fumble against Maryland and recorded 1 tackle during the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, Sawyer was ejected for targeting in the first half of that game against Utah.

Heading into 2022, expectations for Sawyer are bound to rise in Columbus. FOX analyst RJ Young is also predicting big things for the defensive end.

Young released his top-10 list of defensive breakout stars for 2022 with none other than Sawyer leading the way. The Buckeye pass-rusher leads a group of some ultra-talented players nationally, including Rutgers DB Max Melton.

After joining Ohio State as the No. 5 prospect nationally for the class of 2021, it will be interesting to see how Sawyer fits into the defense under new DC Jim Knowles.
