Jaxon Smith-Njigba caps Seahawks' game-tying drive with late TD catch
Jaxon Smith-Njigba has had a career day for the Seattle Seahawks against the Los Angeles Rams, with the former Ohio State star adding to his massive performance with a touchdown with 51 seconds left as the Seahawks tied the Rams 20-20.
Smith-Njigba found himself on the other end of a nice throw from Geno Smith down the left sideline, which the second-year wide receiver hauled in beautifully on a 4th-and-5 with a minute remaining.
One play later, Smith connected with his receiver once more to cap the drive. Here’s video of the terrific scoring catch:

That brought Smith-Njigba’s total to 149 yards and 2 touchdowns, both career highs. His first touchdown catch came at the tail end of the second quarter.
Entering the day, Smith-Njigba had totaled 43 catches for 388 yards and a touchdown. His single-game high in receiving yards in 2024 before Sunday was 117 against the New England Patriots, also his previous career high.
The Rams and Seahawks would eventually go to overtime as the Rams were forced to punt on the ensuing possession. The Seahawks, losers of four of their last five, started the day at 4-4, while the Rams, winners of back-to-back game, were 3-4. Both teams are just behind the 5-4 Arizona Cardinals in a tight NFC West.
