Jeff Okudah will have to wait a little while for his Atlanta Falcons debut. But not too long.

Okudah suffered an ankle injury Friday with the Falcons during training camp and was carted off the field. The extent of the injury was not known at the time but was revealed Saturday to have not been serious. HC Arthur Smith expects Okudah back “early in the season.”

Okudah spent his first 3 seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and struggled to meet expectations that come with being the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 draft amid injury issues. However, Okudah’s 2022 season was his best yet and shows some promise for a future in the league.

He was traded to the Falcons following the season and now gets a much-needed change of scenery in Atlanta.
