Jeremiah Smith already best WR in college football, says draft expert Todd McShay
Jeremiah Smith has taken the world of college football by storm as a freshman. The wide receiver immediately became a focal point of Ohio State‘s offense and is now performing on one of the biggest stages in college football.
In the 1st half of the Rose Bowl against Oregon, Smith caught 5 passes for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. The game is only half over and Smith already has his highest yardage total of the season and his 3rd game of the year with multiple scores.
Smith’s impressive performance has draft expert Todd McShay making bold claims. According to McShay, Smith is already the “best WR in the country as a true freshman.”
Not sure what else there is to say about Jeremiah Smith. Best WR in the country as a true freshman. Just special to watch!

That’s a bold claim considering Smith just recently turned 19 years of age. However, perhaps no freshman has impacted their team on offense more than Smith has in 2024. The WR finished No. 21 in the FBS in receiving yards and had more than any other freshman. Smith narrowly lost the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award to Texas’ Colin Simmons.
Perhaps most impressive is Smith’s ability to play his best games against quality competition. In Smith’s first game against Oregon, Smith caught 9 passes for 100 yards and 1 TD. Against Tennessee, the phenom caught 6 passes for 103 yards and 2 TDs.
Now, the freshman star is taking it to Oregon again with a lot of the game left to be played.
