The last Ohio State players to win Rose Bowl MVP honors were Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tommy Eichenberg in 2022.
The Buckeyes got off to a hot start and never trailed in the game. The team was up 34-0 late in the 2nd quarter, with the Ducks finally finding the end zone as the first half came to a close.
Before halftime, Smith already had 2 touchdowns and his highest yardage total of the season. So far, Smith has caught 70 passes for 1,224 yards and 14 touchdowns in his debut season.
Simon, meanwhile, now has 97 total tackles, 7 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 7 pass deflections. The senior linebacker has been a key reason why the Buckeyes have the No. 1 total defense in the nation.
After easily getting past Oregon, the Buckeyes will now advance to the Cotton Bowl against Texas. Texas defeated the Pac-12 champion Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday.
Ohio State and Texas will kick off from the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
